MOTA – Yoni Relax Tea

Oh snap… your moontime is here and Aunt Flo is about to arrive. You’ve got cramps, you’re bloaty and in a terrible mood. Instead of reaching for the pain pills, try out this menstrual relief tea I found on Birch + Fog!!

Now, if you’ve never been to my blog before, I should note now that I am a transgender non-binary man who has been on testosterone for just over a year and I am pre-operative. I still have all of those fussy reproductive organs and yes, I still have a menstrual cycle (though rather infrequent).

I originally purchased this tea specifically with a friend in mind who suffers from terrible menstrual cycles and endometriosis. However, my friend is a very tiny human and this tea proved a little too potent for her liking, and she ended up sharing the bag among a few uterus-having friends. Personally, I have a much higher resiliency to edibles and found the psychoactive effects to be mild, and quite pleasant. A little mood boost and a bit of sedation to help me rest… and not take off anyone’s head if they look at me funny.

I loved the taste because I love minty things. My friend, however, ingested it more as if it was a medicine she knew would make her better… but was not a fan of. She did, however, get a significant amount of relief from her symptoms and has become a repeat purchaser herself in addition to recommending it to anyone else she comes across who suffers from dysmenorrhea (that’s painful menstrual cramps).

The ingredients are all organically sourced and every herb has it’s own little role to play in making you feel better. Raspberry leaf and black cohosh have long been used to alleviate menstrual and menopausal symptoms. Licorice, ginger, and mint will settle your bloaty tummy. St. Johns Wort is a fantastic mood booster, but if you’re currently taking any SSRIs or other psychiatric medications you should ask your doctor before taking St Johns Wort.

The bag contains 300mg of THC and 100mg of CBD, working out to 25mg THC and 8(ish)mg of CBD per serving. I found that you achieve far better results by simmering it on the stove about 20 min in a 1:1 ratio of full fat coconut milk to water so there’s some fat for the cannabinoids to bind to.

Another great selection from Birch + Fog… seriously can’t go wrong with those folx. They’re a women-led and femme-focused brand with lots of amazing cannabis-infused products for your body and mind. I am truly glad I found this tea and it’s definitely going to become a regular part of my menstrual wellness routine.
